Stair Treads: These are horizontal surfaces people use to step up and down the stairs, providing stable platforms for walking. Ours are made of Silver Grey Granite with a bullnose edge.

Risers: Positioned vertically in front of the Stair Treads, Risers prevent feet from slipping and add a decorative touch to the staircase. They are also made of Silver Grey Granite, coordinating with the Stair Treads for a consistent design style.

How Should Granite Steps Be Installed and Maintained?

A full mortar bed is recommended to provide continuous support and long-term stability, along with a slight fall to allow water to drain away from the surface. Sealing is optional. Applying a suitable sealer can help maintain the original appearance during the early stages after installation and reduce the risk of water marks or staining. However, granite is naturally dense and durable, and performs very well even without sealing.

Do Granite Steps Require Ongoing Maintenance?

Granite steps require very little ongoing maintenance due to their dense structure and low water absorption. They are naturally resistant to staining and do not typically support moss or algae growth under normal conditions. Routine care is minimal and generally involves removing surface dirt such as bird droppings, soil or other site contaminants when necessary.
